GPS tracker for aviation assets: ivTrack Evo, tested to RTCA DO-160G

Updated 22 October 2026 · InVirtus Technologies, Nantes, France

The ivTrack Evo is InVirtus's hybrid GPS and Bluetooth tracker for aviation assets: ground support equipment (GSE), engine stands, tooling and spare-parts containers that move between hangars, airports and repair sites. Its electromagnetic compatibility was tested by Emitech, an independent French laboratory, against the requirements of RTCA DO-160G, the environmental test standard for airborne equipment.

What "approved for use on aircraft" really means

There is no single worldwide approval for a tracker carried on an aircraft. Two things are needed:

Several airlines and cargo carriers have already reviewed the ivTrack Evo and approved it for airworthiness. The full list of approving airlines is published on our ivTrack Evo airworthiness certification page.

InVirtus provides the ivTrack Evo DO-160G test report on request, so you can submit it to the carriers on your routes before deployment.

Typical uses in aviation and MRO

Engine stands and GSE shipped between sites

Engine stands, test benches and ground support equipment often travel between maintenance sites in several countries. GPS follows them on the road and at airports; Bluetooth takes over once they are inside a hangar, so you keep one continuous view.

Ground support equipment on the ramp

Dollies, tow bars, ground power units and stairs are easy to lose on a large apron. Geofences per stand or per area send an alert when equipment leaves its zone, and the history shows where it was last used.

Spare parts and transport boxes

Transport boxes for aircraft parts can be followed from the warehouse to the line, with alerts when they stop moving or leave an authorized area.

Frequently asked questions about aviation GPS trackers

Is the ivTrack Evo certified for use on aircraft?

The ivTrack Evo was tested by the independent laboratory Emitech against the electromagnetic compatibility requirements of RTCA DO-160G. Acceptance on board remains the decision of each airline or cargo carrier; we provide the test report so you can submit it to them. The airlines that have already approved it are listed on our airworthiness certification page.

Can the same tracker work outdoors and inside a hangar?

Yes. The ivTrack Evo uses GPS outdoors and Bluetooth Low Energy indoors, so an asset stays visible when it moves from the apron into a workshop.

Does it work outside Europe?

Yes. Its eSIM covers more than 190 countries, which suits equipment shipped between maintenance sites worldwide.

How long does the battery last?

Up to 6 years, depending on how many positions the tracker sends per day.

Can the data be connected to our MRO or ERP system?

Yes. The InVirtus Cloud platform provides an API that sends positions, zone events and alerts to your maintenance, ERP or logistics systems.
